Question by mwstockman: Looking for a cost-effective web conferencing solution to show powerpoint show at less than 3 cents/min.?
I’ve seen many solutions like Webex, GoToMeeting, Breeze, etc., but those are far too expensive. I need to hold 8 online web conferences, each of which will have 200 people on it, all of whom will be viewing a powerpoint presentation of mine. I already have a low-cost teleconferencing solution, so now just need to find the web conference part. One avenue is to use an all-you-can-eat, unlimited solution like presenternet.com, but looking for more choices and hoping someone can help me out. This is my first time trying to do this, and don’t know much about it. I am up to using any technology that works, so long as my costs are minimized.
Also, I suppose if it’s easy to do, I could look into a solution whereby I actually install software on MY server to stream the presentation. But my goal is to have some service-based solution handle this…but one that’s affordable.

Look into streaming instead and stream the conference screencast using Real Player, Darwin, or some other way, like VLC video player.

You’ll have to set up the server. I’ve researched this, and it’s not going to happen for that price. If you were doing one at a time you could use TightVNC or UltraVNC for one on one
